By the grace of Allah the Almighty, the 6th Annual Run for Windsor was successfully held despite persistent rain throughout the event. The strong turnout and enthusiastic participation reflected the continued growth of Run for Windsor as an important platform for community engagement, relationship-building, and demonstrating the Jama’at’s commitment to serving humanity.
The event brought together more than 450 attendees, including over 250 guests from the wider Windsor-Essex community. Participants included families, community leaders, faith representatives, local businesses, and supporters from diverse backgrounds. A total of 260 runners and walkers registered for the event, including 110 non-Jama’at participants, demonstrating the initiative’s growing reach and appeal within the broader community.
The event was honoured by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Drew Dilkens, Mayor of Windsor; Crystal Meloche, Mayor of LaSalle; Andrew Dowie, MPP for Windsor-Tecumseh; and Daemon Hart, Fire Chief of the City of Windsor. Several city councillors and representatives from various faith and community organizations also attended. Messages of support and encouragement were received from Harb Gill, MP for Windsor West, and Cathy Borrelli, MP for Windsor-Tecumseh.
Strong support from local businesses and community organizations further contributed to the event’s success. The Windsor Express Basketball Team hosted a booth, alongside several other local businesses and organizations, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for participants and guests.
Fundraising efforts are continuing, with additional donations still being collected. Initial estimates indicate that close to $20,000 has been raised, with the final total to be confirmed once all contributions have been received.
The Run for Windsor organizing team expressed its sincere gratitude for the guidance, encouragement, and prayers of local Sadran, Zumma, and Quaideen, as well as National Quaid Sahib Isar, Mubashir Khalid Sahib, and Regional Nazim-e-Ala Qamar Shaheed Sahib and his Amila. Their continued support was invaluable throughout the planning and execution of the event. The dedication and hard work of the volunteers also played an essential role in making the event successful, particularly given the challenging weather conditions.
Alhamdulillah, the 6th Annual Run for Windsor was a tremendous success in bringing together people from diverse backgrounds for a common humanitarian cause. The event further strengthened the Jama’at’s relationships with local civic leaders, community organizations, and residents, while promoting the values of service, compassion, and goodwill.
May Allah the Almighty reward all volunteers, donors, sponsors, organizers, and supporters, accept their sincere efforts, and enable us to continue serving humanity. Ameen.
