Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih V (may Allah be his Helper) said:
“Now, only that person will attain honour in heaven who honours the Qur’an. Honouring the Qur’an means acting upon all of its commandments. Honouring the Qur’an does not mean what some people do—placing a copy of the Holy Qur’an on a shelf in their homes wrapped in a beautiful cloth, then rising in the morning, touching it to their forehead with affection, and considering that sufficient, imagining that they have thereby received all the blessings they were meant to receive. This is, in fact, a form of mockery of the Book of God.
“People find time for worldly affairs, but not only do they fail to understand the Qur’an, they do not even find enough time to recite a single ruku [section]or two.
“Therefore, every Ahmadi should be concerned that both he and his wife and children devote attention to reading and reciting the Holy Qur’an. They should then study its translation and thereafter read the commentary of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him). Although this commentary is not arranged in the conventional form of a tafsir, a valuable work has nonetheless been carried out whereby references from his various books, addresses, and sayings have been compiled in one place. This is a tremendous treasure of knowledge.
“If we are not reading the Holy Qur’an in this manner, we should be concerned. Every individual ought to reflect upon whether, after accepting Ahmadiyyat, neglecting these matters is causing him to drift away from Ahmadiyyat.”
