Alice Lake Provincial Park, Squamish, British Columbia | September 17–20, 2026
Camping is a wonderful social activity that encourages a healthy lifestyle and benefits physical, mental, and emotional well-being. With this in mind, eleven BC Ansar members, aged 55 to 76, set out on September 17, 2026, for a three-night camping trip at Alice Lake Provincial Park, near Squamish, British Columbia. The aim was to promote healthy living and social interaction among senior members.
Their journey took them along the scenic Sea-to-Sky Highway, with a brief stop in Squamish for refreshments before they reached their reserved campsites. Managed by BC Parks since 1956, the park features four beautiful lakes: Alice, Stump, Fawn, and Edith.
Meticulous planning by the team leaders ensured the trip’s success, with each member assigned specific camping supplies to bring. The campsite offered flush toilets, showers, fire pits, and mobile coverage. Although the park does not provide electrical power, the group came well equipped with battery banks and mobile chargers, along with camping cots, sleeping bags, and folding chairs, so everyone was comfortable throughout the stay.
Working together, the group set up five tents and a clean, dedicated place for the five daily prayers and Dars-o-Tadrees – a little mosque of their own. Offering prayers together amid the beauty of nature gave the trip a deeply spiritual character, keeping the remembrance of Allah at its heart. The committed Ziafat team kept everyone well fed with scrumptious meals, including barbecue, and every meal became an occasion for joy and connection that deepened friendships among the campers.
Walks, jokes, and meaningful discussions created a lively atmosphere. The group also explored nearby beaches and hiking trails and visited Porteau Cove Provincial Park, soaking in the stunning views and fresh air under favourable weather.
The trip to Alice Lake was an unforgettable experience of friendship, spiritual growth, and connection with nature, and a reminder of the joy that camping brings. May Allah bless all the Ansar members who participated in and contributed to the success of this event. Ameen. Such experiences deserve to be treasured and repeated.
