Hazrat Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“Beware of sitting on the roads.” The people said, “O Messenger of Allah! We cannot do without our gatherings, where we sit and converse with one another.” The Holy Prophet said, “If you must sit there, then give the road its due right.” They asked, “O Messenger of Allah! What is the right of the road?” He said, “Lowering your gaze, refraining from harming others, responding to the greeting of Salaam, enjoining what is good, and forbidding what is evil.”
