By the grace of Allah the Almighty, the 2nd Annual Run for Guelph was successfully held on October 4, 2026, at Riverside Park, located at 709 Woolwich Street in Guelph, Ontario. The event was organized by Majlis Ansarullah Guelph in support of the Guelph General Hospital Foundation, with all proceeds designated to support local healthcare services. It brought together approximately 125 participants and guests from the Jama’at and the wider community.
The event featured a 2 km run and a 1 km walk, with approximately 40–50 participants taking part in these activities. The initiative provided an excellent opportunity to promote community engagement, strengthen relationships with local residents, and demonstrate the Jama’at’s ongoing commitment to serving humanity.
Donations are continuing to be collected, and the final fundraising total will be confirmed once the collection process is complete. The participation and generosity of community members, donors, and supporters reflect the strong spirit of giving and collective responsibility that the event seeks to promote.
The event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of approximately 25–30 volunteers, including Jama’at members and student volunteers from local schools. Their contributions were instrumental in managing event activities, welcoming participants, and ensuring the smooth execution of the program.
Hospitality was also an important part of the event, with refreshments generously provided through in-kind contributions from community partners. Participants and guests enjoyed Krispy Kreme doughnuts, Tim Hortons Timbits, freshly prepared samosas, hot coffee, and fresh fruit, including apples and bananas.
A comprehensive promotional campaign was undertaken to maximize participation and raise awareness throughout the Guelph community. Extensive digital outreach, particularly through Facebook and other social media platforms, helped attract participants and guests from beyond the Jama’at. In addition, Jama’at members and local youth were actively encouraged to participate, volunteer, and support the initiative. These efforts helped strengthen internal engagement while extending the event’s reach into the broader community.
The event was honoured by the presence of representatives from the beneficiary organization, local municipal representatives, and national Jama’at leadership. Distinguished guests included Matt Peltomaki, Director of Philanthropic Programs, and Stephanie Droog, Manager of Community Engagement, from the Guelph General Hospital Foundation. Municipal representatives included Troy Bridgeman, Candidate for Ward 2; Katherine Hauser, City Councillor for Ward 6; and Ali Malik, Candidate for Ward 4. The event was also attended by Shahid Mansoor Sahib, Sadr Majlis Ansarullah Canada, and Naseer Mirza Sahib, Naib Sadr Majlis Ansarullah Canada.
Their presence and support added to the significance of the occasion and demonstrated the importance of collaboration between community organizations, local institutions, and civic representatives.
The event also included efforts to generate public awareness through media engagement. Details of media coverage, interviews, and publications will be added to this report once they have been finalized and confirmed.
Alhamdulillah, the 2nd Annual Run for Guelph was a successful community initiative that brought together Jama’at members, local residents, volunteers, and distinguished guests for a common humanitarian cause. Beyond its fundraising objective, the event provided a valuable platform for building relationships, promoting goodwill, and strengthening the Jama’at’s presence and engagement within the wider Guelph community. The continued support of volunteers, donors, sponsors, community partners, and organizers was essential to making this event possible.
May Allah the Almighty reward everyone who contributed to this initiative, accept their sincere efforts, bless the work of Majlis Ansarullah, and enable us to continue serving humanity with dedication and compassion. Ameen.
