    2026 Run for Hamilton

    By the grace of Allah the Almighty, the 9th Annual Run for Hamilton was successfully held on Sunday, October 4, at T.B. McQuesten Park in Hamilton, Ontario. Organized by Majlis Ansarullah Hamilton and Hamilton Mountain Jamaat, the event brought together approximately 225 participants, dignitaries, community members, and volunteers to support a worthy humanitarian cause.
     
    Participants took part in a 4 km run and a 1 km run/walk, demonstrating their enthusiasm for healthy activities and community service. Alhamdulillah, more than $20,000 in donations had been collected to date, with all proceeds designated for Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre to support patient care and the purchase of medical equipment.

    The event was honoured by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Andrea Horwath, Mayor of Hamilton; Lisa Hepfner, MP for Hamilton Mountain; Ned Kuruc, MP for Hamilton; Monica Ciriello and Jeff Beattie, MPPs; City Councillors Esther Pauls, Tammy Hwang, and Rob Cooper; and Dawn Danko, Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board Trustee. Other community leaders and candidates for public office also attended, including Kojo Damptey, Andrew Salman, Jacob Brenke, Tanjoban Nijjar, and Keanin Loomis. Cristina Lopez represented Juravinski Hospital, while Mubashir Khalid Sahib, National Qaid Isar, represented Majlis Ansarullah Canada. Their presence highlighted the importance of community partnerships and collective efforts to support local healthcare.

    Approximately 25–30 dedicated Ansar volunteers from Hamilton and Hamilton Mountain Jamaat helped organize and manage the event. Participants and guests were also served fresh samosas, bananas, and other refreshments. Their dedication, along with the enthusiastic participation of community members, contributed significantly to the event’s success.
     
    A comprehensive promotional campaign helped raise awareness and encourage participation. This included extensive Facebook and social media promotion, flyer distribution throughout surrounding neighbourhoods and local mosques, and registration stalls after Friday prayers at Hamilton Mountain Mosque. Jamaat members and local youth were also encouraged to participate and volunteer, helping strengthen engagement with the wider community.
     
    Alhamdulillah, the 9th Annual Run for Hamilton provided a valuable opportunity to bring together Jama’at members, elected representatives, community leaders, and local residents in support of Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre. It further strengthened community relationships and demonstrated the Jama’at’s ongoing commitment to serving humanity.
    May Allah the Almighty reward all volunteers, donors, sponsors, participants, and organizers, accept their sincere efforts, and enable us to continue serving humanity. Ameen!
